UPDATE: I didn’t write up a formal review for the show. I did go and it was actually pretty good. I don’t know if they didn’t get enough advertising for the event as a whole though, because there wasn’t a whole lot of people there. Actually there wasn’t much anyone there. But I did enjoy myself. I even bought a couple of things.
I hope that they do try to bring it back next year. But maybe with a little more *POW* so that they can get more people in the doors and make it a major event. It was the first year, and usually the first time is a great trial. Best of luck and I hope to see the Magic City Gift Show again next year!
Getting out of work the other day I find something stuck on my drivers side window. Usually since I work at the mall this is very common. But this wasn’t an ad for a new stereo or a nail salon. These were tickets to an event at the Orange Country Convention Center.
Now I’ve gone to quite a few events at the convention center but I’ve never heard of this one, it apparently is a new one starting this year. It’s called the Magic City Gift Show. So I decided to go to the website and see what it was all about.
This is what I got in the “About” section:
The Magic City Gift Show starts this Fall, Sept. 23-25, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, as an annual event with a focus on serving the business community, local non-profit organizations and the general public with the widest selection of variety merchandise Central Florida has ever seen. The Magic City Gift show strives to help all businesses while creating the best buyer experience.
To me this sounds sort of like an organized flea market, and that sounds awesome to me. Shopping? Yes!
So here’s the details for the actual event:
Shopping not you’re forte?
We have a bunch of conventions in the area year round. But there really aren’t a whole lot that are open to the public as a whole, but here are some coming up in the near future:
- Southern Women’s Show (October 13-16)
- Central Florida International Auto Show (November 24-27)
- Orlando Home & Garden Show (January 13-15, 2012)
- Megacon (February 17-19, 2012)
